Hi! ☺️

Welcome to my little corner on the internet! I’m Daphne, and I have been exploring the world solo for the last nine years. My goal is to inspire women to do the same and stop waiting for others to go with! Like, I missed Beychella (Beyoncé at Coachella) because I didn’t have anyone to go with. It likely will never happen again, and I missed it! I’m so mad at myself *deep sigh*. I like to ramble too, but anyway.

As a regular degular 9-to-5er working a job that I kinda hate, I like to share the actual costs of my travels, breaking down expenses to give you a realistic view of what it takes to get there. This blog is an honest account of everything I’ve learned and experienced throughout my journey of all 50 states and over 45 countries. I hope that I can help you on your way , even if its a tiny bit 💛

  • Weekend Itinerary: Enjoying the Best of Napa Valley

Weekend Itinerary: Enjoying the Best of Napa Valley

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of visiting Napa Valley for the first time. It was one of those trips that I’ve always felt like was out of reach and exclusively for the rich. Fortunately, I made my little way on up there and had a wonderful time. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I assumed it would be. In Napa, I stayed at the Westin, my favorite hotel brand of all time. The Napa Valley location was of course wine themed and the vibe matched the local area. I was upgraded…

  • Reasons Why I Fell Out of Love with Airbnb

Reasons Why I Fell Out of Love with Airbnb

I just finished writing my post on visiting Hobbiton in New Zealand. In that post, I briefly mentioned one of my favorite airbnb experiences. I stayed with a host there, a local woman named Alia. She was a recent widow and an empty nester, both her kids were away at college. She had plenty of spare room in her home and decided to try out airbnb for local female visitors. My time at her home was like being with an older aunt, I spent almost a week there. She cooked breakfast in the…

  • On the hunt for Frodo Baggins in New Zealand

On the hunt for Frodo Baggins in New Zealand

During my first trip to Australia, I had the toughest decision to make. Do I want to visit the neighboring country, New Zealand, or the closest island, Fiji? I only had two weeks in the “Land Down Under” and couldn’t do all three. Ultimately, I decided on New Zealand because of Hobbiton. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of my favorite movies! Frodo Baggins, the main character in the film, lives in the Shire (village) in Hobbiton. The actual film set for Hobbiton used in the movie is located in Matamata,…

  • The Truth About My Chanel Splurge in Paris

The Truth About My Chanel Splurge in Paris

The first Chanel hat boutique was located at 21 rue Cambon in Paris. I’ve known that fun little trivia fact since middle school. Back then I would use my allowance money to buy issues of Vogue magazine and dream of the day that I could own designer pieces. I’ve been to Paris a handful of times and I didn’t even bother to go to a store. Please, just save me the heartache and just drop me off at Target. But, this time was different. I saved all year for my December Paris trip…

  • Sleep Tight: One night at a capsule hotel in Tokyo

Sleep Tight: One night at a capsule hotel in Tokyo

This post is real rich coming from me. I just wrote a post a few days complaining about budget hotels and here I am fresh out of one! It’s crazy because it was one of my top things to do here in Tokyo. I wanted to stayed in a capsule hotel and ride on bullet train! One down and one more to go. It’s weird because initially I didn’t even consider it a budget hotel. I just thought of it as a cool concept. And it actually wasn’t all that budget friendly, it…

  • How to Eat Your Way Through Tokyo Disneyland

How to Eat Your Way Through Tokyo Disneyland

After a grueling sixteen hours of flying time, my first stop in Japan was at Disneyland! I am such a big kid at heart and I love Disney parks! There are six Disney resorts across our wonderful planet and Tokyo marks my fifth. I only have the Shanghai location left to visit! My experience at Tokyo Disneyland was amazing, not only was the ticket affordable ($62), but the food was also cheap and yummy too! I am one of those childless adults who go to Disney probably every year. At this point, I…

  • Hidden Gems in Idaho: What to See Besides Yellowstone

Hidden Gems in Idaho: What to See Besides Yellowstone

On my current quest to visit all fifty states, I did a roadtrip through Idaho and Montana. Both states, along with Wyoming is home to Yellowstone National Park. My overall knowledge of Idaho before my visit was potatoes and waterfalls. I was looking forward to long scenic drives and just being one with nature. And of course, stuffing my face with as many potatoes as I could find. My first stop in Idaho was at Shoshone Falls Park in Twin Falls. It’s considered The Niagara of the West, and stands at 212 feet…

  • Is the Napa Valley Wine Train Really Worth Your Time and Money?

Is the Napa Valley Wine Train Really Worth Your Time and Money?

As the year ends, I look back over the numerous trips I’ve taken, and I’m really in awe! I didn’t travel as much as I typically do and only used my passport twice this year. However, I did take some big girl, grown woman trips. In June, I was fortunate to visit Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts and I just completed my Napa Valley journey. Both places are pretty expensive to travel to in the States, and I’m still so surprised that I’ve been to both in the same year! One of the main…

  • Budget Hotels? It’s a no for me.

Budget Hotels? It’s a no for me.

Yep, I said and I’m not taking it back. Budget hotels suck and I’m not sleeping there. Ok, that was bit much – but hear me out before you roll your eyes and pass judgement. It’s been a long time coming and honestly it’s growth. I’m kind of proud now that I think it about. So, when I first began traveling solo around seven years ago I only stayed at budget hotels. I was a third party girl, who would continuously refresh Expedia and Priceline apps for the best possible deals. Simultaneously, entering…

  • An Epic Bucket List Adventure in Petra

An Epic Bucket List Adventure in Petra

If my favorite high school history teacher, Mr. Long, could see me now! Little ol’ me finally made it to the treasury in Petra, Jordan! Just even typing that is unbelievable! I’m from a small town in the very southern state of Alabama. Like really? It’s so fascinating when you have all these childhood dreams of places to go and then you finally get there. It’s such an amazing tingly feeling. Like I really did it! Ok, enough of my rambles. But visiting Petra is huge right? It’s in Jordan. It’s in the…
