Hi! ☺️

Welcome to my little corner on the internet! I’m Daphne, and I have been exploring the world solo for the last nine years. My goal is to inspire women to do the same and stop waiting for others to go with! Like, I missed Beychella (Beyoncé at Coachella) because I didn’t have anyone to go with. It likely will never happen again, and I missed it! I’m so mad at myself *deep sigh*. I like to ramble too, but anyway.

As a regular degular 9-to-5er working a job that I kinda hate, I like to share the actual costs of my travels, breaking down expenses to give you a realistic view of what it takes to get there. This blog is an honest account of everything I’ve learned and experienced throughout my journey of all 50 states and over 45 countries. I hope that I can help you on your way , even if its a tiny bit 💛

How to Find the Best Tours in the Whitsunday Islands

I have the hardest time writing about my experiences in Australia and New Zealand. A cheesy grin always stretches across my face, just thinking about the memories. From Alabama to Australia, is a huge deal to me! Like I actually went?! One place that I absolutely had to visit while in Australia was the Whitsunday Islands. The remarkable beauty of the islands is constantly rated as one of the top beaches in the world travel to. If you don’t know the island by name, I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of the crystal blue…

    Martha’s Vineyard – A Pleasant Surprise

To quote the great Joseline Hernandez, my year of travel, was more about quality not quantity. I did not do nearly as much traveling as I typically do. I only used my passport twice this year and I only went to one new country! However, I do feel like I went on some really nice and big trips this year. I was able to visit both Napa Valley (read about it here) and Martha’s Vineyard, places I thought I would not be able to afford until I was much older! I fell in…

My Review of the Delta SkyMiles Platinum Amex After One Year

I just got an alert that my $350 annual card fee was due. So, I thought what better time to discuss my Delta Platinum SkyMiles American Express Card! My first credit card was actually the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card. I had it for about six years, before I decided to upgrade to the platinum last November. There were three reasons why I decided to upgrade. The first was that Delta changed the criteria for medallion qualification, which meant it would be harder to get status. In the past few years I…

How Much Do Popular Destinations Really Cost (Tokyo)?

One of my main reasons for creating this website was to discuss how much it really cost to travel. Before I started traveling solo, I followed so many content creators. From bloggers to YouTubers, I was trying to soak up as much information as I could before I started traveling alone. One thing that I rarely came across was someone who stated exactly how much they spent on trips. Some people may consider it tacky or distasteful. But, here on my website, I LOVE IT AND ENCOURAGE IT. I am a very transparent…

What It’s Like to Walk Among Lions and Cheetahs

I can’t even find words to describe the day I went on a morning walk with two lions and a cheetah! Honestly, it’s every word you can think of between amazing and phenomenal. It’s also quite a few more choice words after arriving at the park. It’s when I realized that maybe I did not think this excursion all the way through. But, let’s start at the beginning. My first steps ever on the African continent was in South Africa. It came about via an error fare with Etihad airlines. It was the…

The Time I Snuck Down to Floor Seats at Essence Festival

Am I the only one who has this dark-sided alter ego in the back of their head? I swear that I would be a good criminal! In another life, I would be an amazing Selena Kyle/Catwoman type of con artist. I blend in, i’m unassuming, I have a soft gentle voice, I could totally do it. Or maybe I’ve watch Ocean’s Eleven and Catch Me If You Can one too many times. In real life, I would probably suck at it. This past summer, I attended Essence Festival for the second time in…

Why Chefchaouen Is the Perfect Blue Escape

But driving to get very photogenic blue city, was the most dangerous and scariest event of my life. I really wanted to start this post off by writing about how pretty and blue it is. But, the first thought that comes to mind is the hazardous drive up a mountain in the dark. I can’t even write about it without feeling anxious and jittery! It was the bad! I went to Morocco with a good friend of mine a few years ago (hey Todd)! I planned out a very detailed itinerary for a…

Is My Calpak Luggage Still Reliable After a Year?

In the past eight years of traveling solo, I have been through some luggage. My first suitcases were the kind you find at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. After those fell apart, I moved on up to Macy’s to a Jessica Simpson navy and cream print set! I was so excited for my first matching set, I even purchased the tote that matched the two suitcases. My poor luggage barely made it through five trips. After that I went back to an assortment of fifty dollar suitcases. My next big purchase was a Herschel…

When Dreams Come True: Sleeping over water in Bora Bora

I cried real tears leaving my overwater bungalow in Bora Bora. Have you ever counted down the minutes in complete agony? I just remember pacing around the room. Walking from the inside to the outside. Thinking why is time going by so fast?! It’s 2:15 check out is at 4 o’clock. What do I do? I have less than two hours left. How much money is in my savings account? Should I just put another night on my credit card and don’t think about it. Why me lord, whyyyyyyy! I just did not…

  • How I Always Score International Flights for Under $1000

How I Always Score International Flights for Under $1000

I have been to fifty countries and I have never spent more than one thousand on a round trip flight. At this point, I think that’s my maximum limit. Outside of the internet I really don’t talk about traveling with people. But, when the topic does arise I always discuss how I am able to find inexpensive flights! It’s a common misconception that you need thousands and thousands of dollars to fly to other countries and that’s simply not true. The name of the game is being flexible. Personally, I don’t like traveling…
