The One App You Need Before Your Next International Trip!

Mobile Passport Control. That’s it. It’s one of the best travel apps that not many people are using! And best of all, it’s completely free!

This post was inspired by my last international trip to Canada. I visited Banff National Park, which is extremely popular in the summer. After getting off the plane, I was horrified to see such a large crowd waiting to go through customs. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a line that long outside of the holidays! I was absolutely going to miss my connection flight, the line was just too long! But then I saw the sign for Mobile Passport Control users and was so happy that I had previously downloaded it. If I hadn’t had the app, I would have been like so many others that I overheard in distress about missing their flights.

The photo below (which I snapped quickly for journalistic purposes lol) is of over one hundred people waiting to clear customs in Chicago. I wanted to yell out at them to download the app and save themselves the agony of waiting in line. It was only seven people ahead of me in the Mobile Passport Control line! How could they not know about the app?!

THE SUPER LONG CUSTOMS LINE
THE SUPER SHORT MPC LINE

So, please do yourself a favor and download the app from the App Store if you haven’t already.

Once downloaded, fill out your information before your next international. Once you arrive back in the US, you can open the app, and your flight information should be pre-loaded. After that, fill out the customs questionnaire, take a selfie, and you will receive a QR code that you show to the agent at the Mobile Passport sign. You will then proceed through customs at an expedited speed.

Mobile Passport Control is available at most major airports. It is currently only for US Citizens and green card holders. Although it is similar to Global Entry, MPC saves you $100 and the extensive application process.

I hope this helps you on your next journey! And bring me something good back 💕
